Infertility is a difficult and delicate subject for couples who want to become pregnant, yet are not successful. The good news is that there are several treatment options that bring hope for a successful pregnancy. Advanced Women’s Health Center works with couples to determine possible causes for infertility, such as endometriosis in the woman or low sperm count in the man. There are other causes as well, or sometimes the issue isn’t evident. We’ll work with you to create a treatment plan, starting with the simplest methods.
Ovarian stimulation – Increasing egg production with a medication such as Clomid provides more opportunities for pregnancy.
Hormone injections – GNrH injections given at the exact timing in a woman’s cycle help the body maintain a successful pregnancy.
In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) – If other methods are not successful, many couples opt for IVF, where a doctor retrieves one or more eggs from the woman and combines them with the man’s sperm in an artificial environment. The resulting embryo is then placed back in the woman’s’ uterus to develop. In such situations, we partner with Dr. Omid Khorram, Professor of Infertility at UCLA – Harbor. He performs the actual IVF procedure in his facility at the UCLA campus. All fertility cycle monitoring and medications take place at the Advanced Women’s Health Center office in Bakersfield. Patients have the option of IVF at a prestigious institution like UCLA Medical, with the added convenience of local monitoring and office visits.
