Prioritize Your Self-Care in 2020 With These 5 Tips

Prioritize Your Self-Care in 2020 With These 5 Tips

Can you believe it’s almost January, 2020? The topic I wanted to cover as we jump into the new year is a word you’ve probably heard all over the internet. If not, your millennial daughter has probably spouted this word to her friends after a long work week. That word is self-care! But what does that term actually mean and how can we put it to good use? Check out these 5 tips for how to prioritize your self-care in 2020!

Get At Least 8 Hours of Sleep

On average, getting 7-9 hours a night is pretty healthy! Make sure you are getting that sleep. Lights out, cell phone away, and kids in bed. Try meditation, too. Establishing a good sleep cycle helps you be the best YOU. It keeps our immune systems strong enough to ward off illness and it helps our metabolism.

Indulge In Happiness

Getting some exercise in is a great way to release endorphins and feel that happy, go-lucky feeling afterward! Or maybe try hanging out with good friends. After all, laughter is so good for our bodies. Get your hair or nails done, if you’re in a good spot financially. Or go outside if you love a good nature hike. The point here is to do the things that help to elevate your spirits!

Help Others With Their Self-Care

Believe it or not, there’s a big world outside of your own! Give back and help others when you can as this connects us directly with our community.

Spend Time With Loved Ones

Family, for most of us, is our greatest source of fulfillment. These people are the core group of people you can “let your hair down” with. They love you as you are, faults and all. For some people, family means a chosen family! Whoever those people are in your lives, it’s important to connect with them to keep those relationships afloat.

Stay on Top of Your Checkups

Your annual, primary doctor’s visit, or bi-annual dentist visit is so important. Same with your OB-GYN! Preventative medicine is the best medicine. Don’t wait until you’re horribly sick! An annual trip to your doctor’s office will keep you thriving!
